Our rule of thumb is that sustainability must be included in the decision making for every choice, big and small, that we make. The public, organizers and partners must be able to trust that Grieghallen is a sustainable venue.
During the last years, Grieghallen has focused strongly on sustainability. Our annual environmental action plans are being followed up/realized and we have implemented new internal routines and encouraged attitide change and motivation among our colleagues. It is important that our goals are clear and ambitious, to keep up motivation as well as demonstrating that our work has an actual impact.
Grieghallen is an older building of great symbolic significance both locally, nationally and internationally. It was, however, not constructed with sustainability in mind, which is why we now make every effort to achieve the same (level of) sustainability as any modern building.
The beehives on the roof and our honey production have become a symbol demonstrating that we take our commitment to sustainability seriously. But we have also replaced thousands of light fixtures with LEDs, re-insulated, increased sorting at source routines considerably and we use district heating.
And we have even more exciting plans for reducing our climate footprint in the time ahead.
