Welcome to a sustainable venue!
Grieghallen aims to be a sustainable venue through all the small and large choices we make — in the heart of Bergen, with a heart for the environment.
In our sustainability strategy for 2020–2025, we set ambitious goals, and we are proud to say that we achieved the targets we set.
Most importantly, the work we have done over the past five years has contributed to greater awareness among everyone working at Grieghallen.
Sustainability is embedded in every major and minor decision we make at Grieghallen: from the purchases we make to the energy we use, from the solutions our partners provide to those we contribute ourselves — and from the food our audience eats to the transport options they choose.
We have set a new sustainability strategy for the period 2025–2030 and will continue to work purposefully to make sustainable choices in everything we do.
Grieghallen’s goals towards 2030
Energy
We will continue to reduce energy consumption by 300,000 kWh, representing a 7% reduction.
We will install additional solar panels on the roof.
Commitments
We will require partners and organisers to comply with the Eco-Lighthouse (Miljøfyrtårn) criteria for green events and conferences.
We will require partners and organisers to guarantee decent working conditions for all employees and contributors.
Waste
We will reduce residual waste to a maximum of 25 tonnes through waste reduction and increased sorting.
We will reduce food waste by 10% per guest.
